One of the leading airways in the world today, and a member of the Sky Team Alliance - one of the three largest international airline alliances, Air France was set up in 1933 after Societe Centrale pour l'Exploitation de Lignes Acriennes purchased assets of Compagnie Generale Acropostale. During World War II, it was owned by the state to serve the country. Until now, flights of Air France cover 315 destinations all over the world, 124 in France and other European cities. In the Asia-Pacific region, Air France maintains 15 routes, including eleven direct flights.

Each week, there are 47 flights from China Mainland and Hong Kong to destinations in France - 14 from Beijing; 17 from Shanghai; 6 from Guangzhou; and 10 from Hong Kong, all featuring Air France's high-quality service. Boeing 777s are the exclusive aircrafts used between the two countries. For increased customer service and satisfaction, all in-flight messages, announcements and broadcasts are delivered in English, Chinese, Cantonese and French.

Most of Air France's international flights operate from Paris Charles de Gaulle. Air France also has a strong presence at Paris Orly and Lyon Saint-Exupéry. Some flights operate out of Nice Côte d'Azur Airport. Air France has just initiated daily direct flights from London-Heathrow to Los Angeles, in line with the new OpenSkies agreement. This flight is codeshared with Delta Air Lines, which has also begun long-haul services out of Heathrow.
