Jiangxi province is situated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It covers an area of 1,669,000 square kilometers (644,440 square miles) with a population of about 40 million.
    Nanchang means 'a prosperous south part of China'. Being over 2,200 years old, Nanchang is a city with significant historical relevence. Nanchang belongs to the sub-tropical monsoon climate; therefore it will bring you mild and pleasant weather for almost all the year round.

 

 Tourism
    Tengwang Pavilion is located on the shore of the Kan, in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. Together with Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Pavilion (Yueyang Lou) , this fine building is one of the three most notable pavilions on south side of the Yangtze River. It also has the reputation of being the 'First Pavilion of Xijiang River' and has been widely admired by visitors from all over the world.
   It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over its history. The present building was rebuilt in 1989 on the original site. Reached by a Nine-zigzag bridge and surrounded by rock gardens and lakes, it is built in the architectural style of the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It is in fact a complex and not just a single structure. The principle building, covering 47,000 square meters (about 12 acres), is nine storied and 57.5 meters (about 189 feet) in height.
Poyang Lake
    Located in the Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, Poyang Lake is the largest fresh-water lake in China. Having experienced many geological changes, Poyang Lake is now wide in the south and narrow in the north, like a huge gourd tied on the waist of the Yangtze River.
   Poyang Lake is a resplendent pearl on the vast Chinese territory. For thousands of years, Poyang Lake has been nurturing the people in Jiangxi Province and attracting visitors with her charm.
    Mt. Jinggang is located on the common boundary of Jiangxi Province and Hunan Province, 352 kilometers (about 219 miles) southwest from the capital city - Nanchang. The mountain areas have a high center that is surrounded by a somewhat lower level and between them they present two obvious steps. At the point that these steps are divided the relative height is 500 meters (about 1640 feet).
   This mountain has great significance in the annals of modern Chinese history for it was here that important events during the Chinese revolution took place. It was here that the famous Five Sentries (the five Red Army military strongholds built) stood overlooking the difficult terrain.
 

 Dining
    Nanchang is also famous for its delicious food. The traditional cuisine is Nanchang Cuisine (Gan Cuisine), which plays a very important role in Chinese food culture. Nanchang snacks are a must for all visitors. The best places to go to taste the genuine specialties such as Nanchang Rice Noodles and Shitou Jie Mahua are Ruzi Lu and Fuzhou Lu.

Shopping
   The main business streets in Nanchang can be found as Zhongshan Lu, Shengli Lu, Minde Lu, Xiangshan Lu and Bayi Dadao. Some of the streets still keep their original flavor to present visitors with their glistening history.
    Porcelain is a ceramic material made by heating raw materials, generally including clay in the form of kaolin, in a kiln to temperatures between 1,200 °C (2,192 °F) and 1,400 °C (2,552 °F). The toughness, strength, and translucence of porcelain arise mainly from the formation of glass and the mineral mullite within the fired body at these high temperatures. Porcelain is used to make table, kitchen, sanitary, and decorative wares; objects of fine art; and tiles.

 Transportation
Air
   Nanchang Changbei International Airport (KHN) built in 1996 is the main international airport. It is situated in Lehua Town, 26 kilometres north of the CDB area. Changbei International Airport is the only one in Jiangxi Province which has an international air route. The airport is connected to major mainland cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Haikou.
Rail
    Nanchang has extensive railway infrastructure which connects to many important cities in other provinces. The Beijing-Jiulong Railway and Shanghai-Kunming Railway (formerly Zhe-Gan Railway, literally Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway) both meet at Nanchang making Nanchang one of the most important transport hubs in Southern China.
Water
   Nanchang Port is the biggest port on the Gan River. Passengers can take Nanchang Port and travel by boat to the Jinggang Shan and Tengwang Pavilion. There are passenger ships that also visit Poyang Lake, Stone Bell Hill, Poyang Lake Bird Protection Area, Dagu Hill and other attractions.
