Liaoning
  Liaoning Province,often called 'the Golden Triangle' because of its superior geographical location, includes boundaries on the Yellow Sea, the Bohai Gulf, and the Yalu River, which makes Liaoning the closest gateway to the Korean Peninsula.
  Dalian sits at the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula,facing the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea.The weather in Dalian is very pleasant. There are no extremely hot summers or cold winters. The average temperature in Dalian is about 10 C.

Tourism
The Shenyang Imperial Palace

  In Shenyang,Liaoning's capital city, there is a Manchu version of the Forbidden City known as the Shenyang Imperial Palace. Built on the same principles as the Forbidden City in Beijing, although much smaller in scope, it was completed by Huang Taiji in 1636. Second only to the Forbidden City, it is the most intact imperial building in existence in China. The Imperial Palace is a museum that features extensive exhibits of jade, ivory, artworks of Ming and Qing dynasties (including paintings, sculpture, enamels and ceramics), musical instruments, and a large display of 17th and 18th Centuries military equipment.
Dalian Int'l Fashion Festival
  The annual Dalian International Fashion Festival is held in Dalian City, Liaoning Province September 16 to 25. It is one of the most influential international theme events in China.
Arrangement for the show includes various theme activities including the Garment Export Fair, fashion exhibitions, fashion competitions and a model contest.At each of the Fashion Festivals, there is always a grand and attractive opening ceremony and an artistic evening performance at the stadium.
Xinghai Park
  Xinghai Park is situated on the southwestern side of Dalian City and borders Xinghai Bay from which it takes its name. Some 800 meters (just under half a mile) in length,
The park attracts many visitors as it is a haven of tranquility as well as offering excellent facilities for bathing from its safe beach where the water is neither too deep nor subject to other than moderate waves.
  Another feature in the park is the Sun Asia Ocean World where you can observe many of the often bizarre creatures that live in the sea.This aquarium is the first in China to have an underwater tunnel from which you can see the marine life at close quarters.
  Tips: You can get there by bus No22, 23, 28, 202, 406, 801 or 901 from various parts of the city.
Should you be feeling hungry the Cuifengyuan hot pot restaurant can be found across the park.
Laohutan Ocean Park
  Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park sits in the middle of Binhai, south of Dalian. There are four theme parks:
1. Coral garden: 3000 corals covering 200 different species.
2. Polar garden: the only one in China showcasing polar bears and their habitats, a science education center, an undersea marine animals show area, and a service area with restaurants and shops.

Culture
  Liaoning's culture is part of a culture of Northeast China that is quite homogeneous across all of the northeastern China. See Manchuria Culture for a detailed description.
  In paleontology, Liaoning is well known for its extraordinary fossils from the Lower Cretaceous period; e.g., the early 'placental' mammal known as Eomaia. The first widely acknowledged feathered dinosaur.

Dining
  The favorable geology endow Dalian with an ideal seawater environment to produce a variety of rich nutritious marine products including fish, prawns, crabs, shells, echinus, sea cucumbers, abalone and algae and so on. Therefore sea food is undoubtedly king of the Dalian's dining scene.
Grills
  Gourmands will find an assortment of grills in the city. The most famous one is grilled sleeve-fish with mixed seasoning of mashed garlic and chilli sauce.A palm-sized sleeve-fish is only ten yuan. It tastes fresh and crisp with a spicy flavor.
  A fatty sea fish called Lin Ji Yu is the favorite of many locals. Stallholders grill the fish on charcoal fires and add spice and pepper. There are also kebab-style grills of beef, mutton, liver and other meat.
Men Zi
  This is a traditional snack in Dalian. A protein-rich food coagulated from an extract of pachyrhizus (something like potatoes) is cut into pieces and fried on a pan to create a crisp cover. A mixed seasoning of smashed garlic, sesame, and sauces is added on eating. Many small food stalls provide this.

Clothes

  Dalian is known as Fashion City where the annual Dalian International Fashion festival is held. If you are lucky to travel to the city around September, you will find this festival venue a paradise to buy the most fashionable clothes from all over the world.
Seafood
  Dalian exports much of its seafood to different countries and regions in the world. Locals consider the un-missable Eight Treasures to be: sea cucumber, abalone, scallop, prawn, mussel and oyster, etc.
Fruits
  Dalian is renowned in China for its apple harvest and produces more than 100 varieties. The cherries, peaches and grapes grown here are also popular in the northern part of China.
Artworks
The shell carving artworks
  There is a variety of artworks sculpted out of shells. The products included hanging paintings, screens, lamps and ornaments.Embroidery and glasses ornament product are also popular choices.

Transportation
Air

  Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport is just 10 kilometers from downtown. It is a ten-minute ride by taxi and the cost is 10 Yuan.
Sea
  Dalian port station is situated in northern Wuwu Road in east Dalian.From here,board bus 801 or 13 to go downtown.Dalian is a very busy port with ships traveling between Dalian and Yantai, Weihai, Penglai, Qinhuang islands, port of Tianjin, and Changhai County. High-speed tourist ships between Dalian and Yantai, Qinhuang islands and Changhai County have been added.
Buses
  Dalian has a comprehensive bus system. Buses start operating at 4:00 or 4:30 in the morning and stop operating at 22:00 or 23:50 in the evening. Buses run at intervals of 3 to 8 minutes. During rush hour, they run every 1 to 2 minutes.
Taxi
  The fare is 8 RMB for a 3 kilometers'ride, and 1.8 RMB per kilometer after that. Evening fares (from 22:00 to 5:00 the next morning) are 30% higher. Dalian is not very large, and most places can be reached for around 20 RMB.
