   Tianjin is one of the four municipalities in China.It lies 120 kilometers southeast of
Beijing on the Bohai Sea. Tianjin's climate is characterized by hot, humid summers, due to the monsoon, and dry, cold winters, due to the Siberian anticyclone. Spring is windy but dry, and most of the precipitation takes place in July and August.
 
Tourism
Huangyaguan Great Wall
   Located in the mountainous area of Tianjin's northern Ji County, the Huangyaguan Great Wall was first built during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550 - 557) and repaired in large scale with bricks during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). In 1986 it was listed as a key relics protection target of Tianjin city.By now 3025 meters of the Huangyaguan Great Wall, 20 water towers and a water pass have been repaired.
Travel Tip
   There are tourist bus available every weekend at the northeast bus station of Tianjin and there are also buses available from the Tianjin Railway Station, but fewer.
Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street
   Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street is located in the Nankai District of the Tianjin Municipality and was formally opened in 1986. It is located on the west bank of the Haihe River, with Tianhou Palace as its geographical center. Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street begins at Gongbei Avenue in the north, and ends at Gongnan Avenue in the south, being 0.36 miles long and 16 feet wide.
   Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street is designed as a place for tourists to experience Chinese folk custom, and as such, contains examples of nearly all the Tianjin local culture in one place. For an added experience, when visiting the street on March 23rd (lunar calendar), visitors will be lucky enough to find the Huanghui Fair, which is held annually on this date. During the Fair you will see performances of stilt walking, dragon lantern, land boat and lion dances.
The Dabeiyuan Monastery
   The Dabeiyuan Monastery is located on the Tianwei Road of Tianjin City, well-preserved and large-scale. It is composed of two parts: the West Monastery and the East Monastery, covering an area of 10,600 sq.m. (about 2.62 acres).The former one was built in 1669 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), while the East Monastery called New Temple was built in 1940 by the monk Long Xian.The West Monastery is the site of Tianjin Buddhist Institute, including the Wenwudian Temple and Buddhist Abbot Temple. And the main part of the Dabeiyuan Monastery is a series of Buddhist Architecture in the East Monastery - the Tianwangdian Temple, Dabeidian Temple and Grand Hall.
 
Dining
   Tianjin cuisine places a heavy focus on seafood, due to Tianjin's proximity to the sea. Prominent menus include the Eight Great Bowls , a combination of eight mainly meat dishes. It can be further classified into several varieties, including the rough, smooth and high. The Four Great Stews refers actually to a very large number of stews, including chicken, duck, seafood, beef, and mutton.

   Goubuli means the infant of a restaurateur; while Baozi means steamed stuffed bun. Goubuli Baozi has had more than 150 years of history.Now its chain restaurants can be found in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and other cities in China as well as cities in America, Japan and Korea.
Erduoyan Zhagao
   It is a traditional brand of fried rice cakes.With relatively fine ingredients and a renowned reputation in Tianjin, Erduoyan Zhagao is almost 100 years old
 
Shopping
   Tianjin has both modern shopping malls and distinctive traditional stores, both of which will fulfill your desire. Binjiang Dao Business Street and Heping Lu Business Street are the busiest and most prosperous shopping centers in Tianjin.
   A variety of Tianjin specialties will provide you many choices for commemorating your visit to this beautiful city, such as Yangliu Qingnian painting, Wejin kites, Niren Zhang painted sculptures, paper-cuts, etc. You can visit Gu Wenhua Jie, Yilin Ge, Wenyuan Ge for inspiration, and to buy.
 
Transportation
Metro
   The Tianjin Metro is currently under heavy expansion from 3 lines to 9 lines. 3 lines are currently operating both in the city and the Binhai.
Air
   Located in Dongli District, Tianjin Binhai International Airport is one of China's modern airports.There are regular shuttle buses to Binhai International Airport from Tianjin Municipality. You can take bus at No.113, Nanjing Lu, Heping District. Everyone is charged CNY10. You can also get to Binhai International Airport from Beijing Capital International Airport by bus which departs every 30 minuets from 9:00am until 10:00pm. The ticket fee is about CNY70 per person and the whole journey will take more than two hours.

Water
  Tianjin Xingang (Tianjin Port) is the biggest man-made port within China and is a must if you decide to come to Tianjin by ship. Its domestic sea routes are to Yantai, Dalian and Longkou; while its international routes are to Inchon in Korea (every Thursday and Saturday) and Honshu in Japan (every Monday).
If you want to go to Beijing from Tianjin Xingang, you can take a taxi to Tianjin Train Station and then take trains to Beijing, both fast and convenient.
