Guangdong Province is situated in the southern part of China mainland.Guangdong province covers an area of over 180,000 square kilometers (69,502 square miles) and has permanent population of 74,730,000.

   Guangzhou is the capital city of Guangdong, and is located in the middle south of Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta. Covering an area of 7434.4 square kilometers (2870 square miles), Guangzhou is home to more than 11 million people, including a 3.7 million transitory population. Guangzhou has a humid climate, and flowers bloom there all year round; hence its name as the City of Flowers.

 

Tourism
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
   Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, situated on the southern slope of Yuexiu Hill, was constructed between 1929 and 1931, a monument to Dr Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution, by the people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese. Designed by the famous Chinese architect, Mr. Lu Yanzhi, the construction started in 1929 and finished in October of 1931.
   The hall, a grand octagon building of typical Chinese architectural style, looks brand new because of reconstruction in 1998. The masterpiece of architecture history is created with a span of 71 meters (about 78 yards) without a pillar but significant outlooks and delicate interior designs. As an important place for conferences and performances, it can hold thousands of people with sound equipment. In the hall there is also a display gallery
Yuexiu Park
   Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. Covering an area of 860,000 square meters (212.5 acres), the park is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain; hence the name Yuexiu Park.
   Yuexiu Park is a perfect combination of cultural relics and ecological tourism, reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics. The main places of interest include the stone sculpture of the Five Rams, Zhenhai Tower, the site of the Ming Dynasty City Wall, and Square Cannon Site.
   Tip: Spring is the best time to visit when the temperature is moderate and Guangzhou Garden Fair is held here.

 White Clouds Mountain
   White Clouds Mountain is a famous mountain in South China. It is honored to be the first scenery of Goat City and the first mountain of Southern Yue since ancient times due to its magnificence and loftiness. It is made up of 30 peaks with the major peak of Mo Xing Ling whose altitude is 382 meters. Every time the sun shines after the rain, and through late spring, a wreath of airy clouds circles the mountains. This is how White Cloud Mountain has won its name, and its reputation as a marvelous spectacle of nature.
   Tip: September to November is most suitable time to climb the mountain because of the fine weather and moderate temperature.

 

Cantonese Cuisine
   Guangzhou delicacies are the main representatives of Yue Cai (Cantonese Cuisine), which includes Guangzhou dishes, Chaozhou dishes and Dongjiang dishes and enjoys great popularity all over the country. Guangzhou cuisine uses a wide range of ingredients from the sky, the earth, and the water. They also use seasonings sparingly. Compared with other Chinese cuisines, Guangzhou dishes use few thick spicy dressings in order to keep from masking the original taste of the food.
Special Roasted Whole Suckling Pig
   It is a valuable and rare dish of a banquet. The skill of roasted whole suckling pig has a long history of more than 1400 years. There are two methods to roast whole suckling pig. The first one is smooth skin pig. Use slow fire and smear less oil. The second one is that the skin is melted. Use big fire and smear oil continuously.
White Cut Chicken (Baiqie ji)
   Baiqie chicken is the simple one in Cantonese chicken cooking without adding any other flavor except boiled water. It tastes fresh and light, marinating the best original taste of chicken. The method of making it is easy.

   Herbal Tea-Drinking is a longtime habit for Guangzhou people. Herbal tea can eliminate summer heat from the human body and cure the sore throats caused by winter dryness. Wang Laoji Herbal Tea is the most famous tea in Guangzhou.

   1.Canton Sculpture includes Canton Ivory Carvings, Jade Sculpture, Wood Sculpture and Olive Sculpture.
   2.Canton Enamel is short for Guangzhou Colorful Pottery. It has a history of over 300 years.
   3. Canton Embroidery, namely Yue Embroidery, is one of the Four Famous Chinese Embroideries together with Su Embroidery, Xiang Embroidery and Shu Embroidery.

Transportation
Air
   The Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has flights to every part of China and some overseas cities. The airport is situated 6 kilometers west of the city. And there are specific airport highways from the urban areas to the airport.
Water
   Guangzhou is located by the Pearl River. Boats sailing along the river can take visitors to Hong Kong, Macau, Haikou and Sanya.
Public Bus
   There is developed and busy buses transportation system in Guangzhou. Price ranges from 3 yuan to 5 yuan depending on the bus conditions.Be forewarned though, buses in Guangzhou is also very crowded because of the city's huge population.
Taxi
   At present, Guangzhou has about 16,000 taxies but demand is also huge particularly during peak hours from 8 am to 9 am and at lunch and dinner.
Taxies follow the principles of "marked prices". The starting fare is 7 yuan for the first 2.3 kilometers, and it is 2.2 or 2.6 every kilometer after that.
