The Sizes of Star Hotels and Their Business Status
In 2006, the size of the star hotels continued steady growth as a whole compared with the previous year, and their room occupancy rate on average also increased.
By the end of 2006, the number of star hotels totaled 12,751, 923 more than that in 2005, with an increase of 7.8%. The star hotels have 1,459,800 rooms, 127,800 more, up 9.6%, and 2.7855 million beds, up 8.3%.
The star hotels have fixed assets totaling 395.745 billion yuan, up 5.4% compared with last year.
In 2006, the yearly occupancy rate of the star hotels on average was 61.03%, 0.07 percentage points higher.
The total business income of all the star hotels amounted to 148.286 billion yuan, up 10.1%. They turned over 10.812 billion yuan of business tax to the state, up 40.1%. Their all-employee labor productivity came to 93,800 yuan per person, up 5.6%.
The 5,832 state-owned star hotels earned a total business income of 59.942 billion yuan and turned in 3.487 billion yuan of business tax to the state. Their all-employee labor productivity reached 85,200 yuan per person.
The 585 star hotels built by foreign investors and businessmen from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan earned a total business income of 28.119 billion yuan and turned in 2.637 billion yuan of business tax to the state. Their all-employee labor productivity reached 171,700 yuan per person.
Among all the star hotels, 302 were 5-star hotels, 21 more than in 2005; 1,369 were 4-star hotels, with an increase of 223 hotels; 4,779 were 3-star hotels, with an increase of 488 hotels; 5,698 were 2-star hotels, with an increase of 201 hotels; and 603 were 1-star hotels, with a decrease of 10 hotels.
The Sizes of Travel Services and Their Business Status
By the end of 2006, The travel services included in statistics numbered 17,957, 1,712 more than 2005. Of these, 1,654 were international travel services, 98 more than last year, and 16,303 were domestic travel services, with an increase of 1,614.
All the travel services had a total asset of 48.48 billion yuan, up 15.6% compared with that in 2005. The travel services as a whole earned a total business income of 141.103 billion yuan, up 26.4% from the previous year. They turned in 0.99 billion yuan in tax to the state, up 21.9%.
The international travel services received 11.0727 million overseas tourist arrivals that stayed for a total of 47.6711 million days, up 18.3% and 19.5% respectively. The number of overseas tourists organized by international travel services numbered 18.5475 million, staying for a total of over 52.7423 million days, up 19.5% and 20.9% respectively.
The travel services organized 75.8378 million domestic tourists who stayed overnight. They spent 229.2734 million days on their travel, up 22% and 12.7% respectively. The travel services hosted 96.2258 million domestic tourists who stayed overnight and spent 213.4896 million days, up 19.0% and 23.0% respectively.
